What members can see and change: assets, packs, trips and logging

Everyone in a profile sees its assets, packs, trips, logging, team notes and documents. Editors and up change them; loggers log; viewers only look. An asset belongs to whoever created it, and only they can delete it. A trip shared on its own shows just that trip, with or without its assets.

Sharing works at the level of a profile, or of a single trip. What someone sees depends on which they're in; what they can change depends on their role.

In a shared profile

  • Assets: every asset filed in the profile, whoever created it, including its photos, weights and details. An asset created by someone else shows a Shared badge on the Assets page, and the Members filter there shows one person's assets at a time.
  • Packs and Trips: all of the profile's packs and trips, their schedules, and the Logger with live logging from the whole crew.
  • Home: the profile's logo, team notes and documents.
  • Editors and up can add assets to the profile, edit any item in it (a case is edited by its owner only), file assets in folders, make and change packs, trips and stops, edit team notes and add documents (adding documents is Pro). Loggers can log at stops and put assets on and off a stop. Viewers can only look. See Roles and permissions: what Owner, Admin, Editor, Logger and Viewer can do.

Who owns an asset

An asset belongs to the person who created it, whichever profile it's in.

  • The owner can always edit and delete it.
  • Anyone with edit rights in a profile the asset is in can edit it if it's an item (someone else's case stays as its owner left it), but can't delete it: their menu offers Remove from the profile instead, which takes it out of that profile and leaves it with its owner.
  • An asset can be in more than one profile (see Assets in more than one profile: where an asset shows up). Someone sees it if they're in any profile it's in, or it's on a trip shared with them with assets.
  • Deleting a profile takes every asset out of it; the deleter's own assets that were only in that profile are deleted, nothing else is.

On a trip shared on its own

The person sees the trip, its dates and schedule. With Include assets on, they also see the assets on its stops and the logging; with it off, the schedule only, no assets, logs or scans. The rest of the profile stays private. See Share a single trip with someone and What you see when only a trip was shared with you.

Good to know

  • Nothing is shared outside a profile or trip. Your personal profile is yours alone until you share it.
  • A photo is visible to anyone who can see its asset, case or trip, and to no one else.
  • Changes show up for everyone live while they're online. Offline, your changes wait on your device and sync when you're back (see Working offline, and how your changes reach other people).
  • If something you expect to see is missing, check which profile is selected and whether the trip was shared without assets: I was invited but can't see the shared Profile or Trip.
