When someone shares a single trip with you, you get that trip and nothing else from their profile. Their profile still appears in your list so the trip has somewhere to live, but it's a shell: the name, logo and colour only.
iPhone app
On the iPhone app
- Tap the profile button at the top left. The sharer's profile is listed with Shared trip under its name. Tap it to select it.
- Trips shows the trips shared with you from that profile, named after the profile at the top. Open one as usual: its dates, schedule and Logger, at the role you were given.
- Assets shows a switch at the top: the profile's name on the left, All Assets on the right.
- If the trip was shared with its assets, the profile's view lists the assets on its stops in one flat list (the owner's folders aren't shared, so there are none to open). With nothing on the trip yet it says "No Assets in" the profile: "its assets on the trips shared with you show up here."
- If it was shared without them, the view says Assets aren't shared with you: "The trip was shared with you without its assets. To see them, ask the person who shared it to turn Assets on for you." The Logger shows no assets or logs either.
- Press and hold the profile in the list for Colour and Archive only. There's no Sharing, Rename or Remove: you aren't a member of the profile.
- To leave the trip, open it, tap the ··· button at the top right of its Dates page and choose Leave Trip (red, at the bottom). It asks first: "You'll no longer see "<trip>" until someone shares it with you again." Tap Leave Trip. "You've left <trip>" confirms it and the trip goes.
Website
On the website
- Click the profile button at the top left; the profile is marked Shared trip. Select it.
- Its Home page says "Only a trip is shared with you here. You can open it in Trips. The rest of this profile stays with its owner." Click Open Trips.
- Assets has the same switch (the profile's name and All Assets) and the same two states, listing the trip's assets or saying they aren't shared with you.
- To leave the trip, choose Leave Trip from the ··· menu on its Dates page, or from the ··· on its ticket on the Trips page. The confirmation, "Leave "<trip>"?", says "Removes you from this shared trip. The owner keeps everything; you'll lose access until you're invited again." Click Leave Trip; "You've left <trip>" confirms it.
Good to know
- From version 1.0.1 the profile has its own view on the Assets page. Before that it opened straight on All Assets with no switch.
- The sharer chooses the assets when they invite you or make the code, and can turn Assets on or Assets off for you later from the trip's Sharing sheet; a code you've already used doesn't change your share. Once they do, the view updates by itself.
- Assets you see this way can't be filed into folders or added to the profile, and they only ever show under this profile when they're on a trip shared with its assets, even if you can see the same asset through another profile.
- Leave Trip arrived in version 1.0.1 (and on the website at the same time). It's there for anyone the trip was shared with, whatever their role; the person who created the trip doesn't get it. If the sharer removes you instead, the app tells you "You've been removed from" the trip.
- If the sharer later shares the whole profile with you, the shell becomes a normal shared profile (marked Shared) with all of its assets, packs and trips.
