Share a single trip with someone

Open the trip, tap the ··· button, then Sharing. Invite them by email or QR code as Admin, Editor or Viewer, and choose whether they get the trip's assets or the schedule only. Trips have no Logger role.

You can share one trip without sharing the profile it lives in. The person sees that trip, its dates and schedule, and, if you include them, the assets on it and the logging. Nothing else in the profile is shared.

iPhone app

On the iPhone app

  1. On the Trips tab, open the trip.
  2. Tap the ··· button (a circle with three dots) at the top right, then Sharing.
  3. The sheet is titled Share followed by the trip's name, with Trip underneath.
  4. Under Invite Member, type their Email address.
  5. Leave Include assets on to share the assets with the schedule: "They'll see the schedule and everything logged on it." Turn it off for "Schedule only. No assets, logs or scans."
  6. Pick the Role: Admin, Editor or Viewer. Then tap Invite.

Or, under Share by QR, set Include assets and a role, then Generate QR (see Share by QR, Join by QR and join links).

To turn the assets on or off for someone later: under People, tap Edit permissions on their row and tap Assets on / Assets off. The app confirms "They can see the trip's assets again." or "They now see the schedule only."

Website

On the website

  1. Open the trip from Trips, click the ··· button, then Sharing.
  2. Enter the Email address, choose the Role, tick or untick Include assets, and click Invite.
  3. Changing the assets switch for someone already on the trip isn't on the website yet: use the iPhone app.

Good to know

  • Who can share a trip: the person who created it, and anyone shared on it as Admin. A profile's owner and admins can open the trip's Sharing sheet, but unless they created the trip or are an Admin on it they only see "Only the owner and admins can see the member list".
  • Trip roles are Admin (can share the trip and manage its members), Editor (can edit the trip and its stops, and log) and Viewer (read-only). There is no Logger role on a trip; a Viewer can watch the logging but not log.
  • The person needs an account on that email address already ("No user found with that email" otherwise). The trip's creator can't be invited: "That user already has full access to this trip."
  • Include assets applies when you invite, or when a code is made. Someone who already joined keeps what they were given until you change Assets on / Assets off for them.
  • What they see is described in What you see when only a trip was shared with you. In the iPhone app, people you've shared single trips with also appear in the profile's own Sharing sheet, under the trip's name, for the trips you created or are an Admin on.
  • Someone you've shared a trip with can leave it themselves with Leave Trip in the trip's ··· menu (see What you see when only a trip was shared with you), or you can remove them (Manage members: change a role, revoke a trip, remove someone).
