Asset details: weight, dimensions, value, serial number, notes and more

Each asset can carry a brand, model, serial number, owner, weight, dimensions, value with currency, notes, tags, a Find My name and customs details. Weights and sizes show in the units chosen in Settings.

Partly Pro

These are the fields on New Asset and Edit Asset, in order. Only the name is required.

FieldWhat it's for
NameWhat everyone sees on tiles, packs and the Logger.
Item / CaseAn item is packed into cases; a case holds items.
Brand, ModelShown under the name on the card; search finds them.
QuantityHow many identical assets to make (1 to 50). Each is a separate asset with its own serial number; they share the photo and details. When editing, it only goes up, adding copies.
ProfilesWhich profiles it belongs in.
CategoryOne from the shared list, suggested from the name. See Categories (asset types) and a profile's industry.
TagsFree words that search finds ("spares", "stage left"). Items only: the website's case form has no Tags row, and tags added to a case on the iPhone app stay on that phone.
Case Number, Luggage TypeCases only. Luggage Type is Cabin or Hold.
Serial Number, OwnerItems only. Owner is a name you type (whose kit it physically is), separate from which account added it.
Length, Width, Height, WeightIn your units. Stored precisely and converted; the card shows "0.40 kg" and "550 × 350 × 230 mm".
Item name in Find MyThe name of its tracker in the Find My app. The card then shows a Find My button that opens Find My on the iPhone, or a "Find My: …" badge on the website. Searching "find my" or "airtag" lists every tracked asset.
Currency, ValueIts value for insurance and customs paperwork. Twenty currencies, GBP by default.
On Carnet, Customs Description, Country of OriginShown with Show Advanced Features on. They feed the ATA Carnet list (Pro).
NotesAnything else.
PrivateItems only, owner only: hides it from other members. See Private items: hide an item from other members.

iPhone app

On the iPhone app

  1. Open the asset's card (tap its tile) and tap the details, or press and hold and choose Edit Asset.
  2. Fill in the sections: Details, Profiles, Category, Tags, Case Details or Identification, Dimensions & Weight, Find My, Value, Notes.
  3. Tap Save.

Units: tap the profile button, then Settings › Preferences to choose Weight Unit (kg or lbs) and Dimension Unit (mm, cm or inches). The form and every card follow it.

Website

On the website

The same fields in the same sections. Units come from Settings › Preferences there too.

Good to know

  • The card shows only what's filled in: brand, model, category, folder, weight, size, the CASE badge, Find My, "Owned by …" and tags.
  • A pack's total weight adds up its assets' weights, so weigh cases and heavy items at least.
  • A value or size you don't touch when editing keeps its exact stored number, even if the form rounds it to your unit.
  • Documents (PDFs, files, photos, links) don't attach to an asset. They belong to a profile, on the Home page: see Documents: notes, links, files and photos for a profile.
  • Exports: a profile's CSV carries these fields (see CSV import and export (Pro)); pack PDFs show photos, weights and serial numbers.
