CSV export and import are Pro features, and they live under Show Advanced Features. On a free account every row shows a PRO badge and tapping it explains Pro.
iPhone app
On the iPhone app
- Tap the profile button (top left), then Settings. Under Preferences, make sure Show Advanced Features is on.
- Scroll to Data Management.
- Export: tap Export Assets (CSV), Export Trips (CSV) or Export Packs (CSV), then choose All Profiles or one profile. The share sheet opens with the file (for example
luggage-logger-assets-spring-tour-2026-10-04.csv): save it to Files, AirDrop it or send it. - Import Assets (CSV): pick the profile the assets should go into, then the file. Every imported asset is yours, is put in that profile and is filed into a top-level folder named after its category if there is one. The message says how many were imported, skipped or had errors.
- Import from CSVs: pick one or more files at once (profiles, assets, packs, pack contents, trips as "events", and schedule stops), tap Build preview, check each row (NEW, DUP, BAD or REF for a missing reference; press and hold a row for Remove from Import), then Confirm (N).
A single pack: open it on the Packs page and use Export CSV in its menu (a row per case and item, with serial numbers, weights, values and customs details).
Website
On the website
- On the Assets page, open the ··· menu at the top right: Export CSV… (choose All Profiles or a profile) or Import CSV… (choose the profile, then the file). A profile's export adds a Folder column, and an import files each row into the folder its Folder column names when that folder exists.
- Settings › Data Management has Export Assets (CSV), Export Trips (CSV), Export Packs (CSV), Import from CSVs and Import Assets (CSV). The Settings exports are shorter summaries, and an import from Settings puts the assets in no profile (they appear in All Assets).
- A pack's page has Export CSV in its ··· menu.
The asset file
Columns, in this order; only Name is needed and headers are matched whatever their case:
Name, Type, Brand, Model, Serial Number, Weight (kg), Length (mm), Width (mm), Height (mm), Value, Currency, Categories, Folder, Owner, Country of Origin, Carnet Name, Baggage Type, Case Number, Notes
- Type:
Item, orCase/Container/Bagfor a case. Exports writeItemorContainer. - Weights are always kg and sizes always mm in the file, whatever units you use in the app.
- Categories are the asset's tags, separated by semicolons (
Mics; Spares). The category itself is suggested from the name and tags on import. - Folder appears in a profile's export:
Audio / Microphones, orUnfiled. - Baggage Type is
cabinorhold; Owner and Case Number are text. - A file exported from either app opens in the other.
Good to know
- Exports never include other people's private items.
- Rows without a name are skipped and reported; a name that already exists is imported again as another unit.
- Trips and packs can be exported but only imported through Import from CSVs, which also takes a schedule (
Event, Date, Time, Title, Location, Type, Notes, dates asYYYY-MM-DD). - For itineraries and gear lists in emails or PDFs, the AI connector (Pro) reads them for you: see The AI connector: use Luggage Logger from Claude or ChatGPT.
