Documents belong to a profile, not to an asset: the carnet scan, the venue's load-in PDF, a link to the shared drive, a note with the van's number plate. They sit in the Documents section of the profile's Home page and every member of the profile can see them.
iPhone app
On the iPhone app
- Turn on Show Advanced Features (profile button › Settings › Preferences); the section only shows then.
- On the Home page, scroll to Documents, near the bottom under Team Notes.
- Tap the blue + (a plus in a circle) in the section header and choose New Note, New Link, New File or New Photo.
- A note has a Title (optional) and a Body.
- A link has a Display label, the URL and an optional Preview image URL.
- A photo has a Caption (optional) and Choose Photo.
- A file has a Display label (optional) and Choose File, or a File URL to link a file kept elsewhere.
- Tick any Tags, then tap Save.
Tap a document to open it: a link opens in your browser, a photo opens full screen (pinch to zoom, X to close, the share button sends the image), a file opens in a preview. A note's text sits in its row; tapping it does nothing. Press and hold a document for Share, and, for editors, Edit and Delete (which removes it straight away; the website asks first).
Tags colour-code documents ("Customs", "Venue"). Manage Tags is in the + menu; chips above the list filter by tag, with All to clear. Long lists show "+N more".
Website
On the website
- With Show Advanced Features on (profile button › Settings › Preferences), Documents is the last section of Home.
- New offers New Note, New Link, Upload File and Upload Photo; Tags manages the tags (name, colour, Add). Both need Pro, as on the iPhone app.
- Tap a row: links, files and photos open in a new tab; a note opens its sheet. The ··· on a row (or a right-click) has Edit and Delete. View all (N) shows the whole list.
Good to know
- Who: editors, admins and owners add, edit, tag and delete; viewers and loggers open them (and share them from the iPhone app).
- Pro: adding documents and managing tags needs Luggage Logger Pro, on the iPhone app and the website alike; opening, sharing, editing and deleting what's already there never does.
- Files and photos count towards your storage allowance; Settings shows "Photos … · Documents …" under your account. Both apps check the allowance before an upload and refuse one that would take you over it (see Your storage allowance: 250 MB free, 5 GB with Pro).
- Sharing a file or photo sends the file itself, not a link.
