Edit an asset

Tap the asset's tile to open its card, then tap the details (or press and hold the tile and choose Edit Asset). Change what you need and tap Save.

Any asset you own, and any item (not a case) in a profile where you're an editor, admin or owner, can be edited from the Assets page. Changes reach every pack and trip that uses it.

iPhone app

On the iPhone app

  1. On the Assets page, tap the asset's tile. Its card opens under the row.
  2. Tap the details beside the photo (there's a chevron on the right when you can edit), or press and hold the tile and choose Edit Asset.
  3. The Edit Asset sheet opens. Change anything: the name, Item or Case, brand, model, category, tags, serial number, size and weight, value, notes.
  4. Profiles changes which profiles it's in. Folder (shown when you're in a profile you can file in) moves it to another folder straight away.
  5. Quantity can only go up when editing: each step adds a copy with the same details and photo, without a serial number.
  6. The photo near the top works on its own: tap it to view it full size, press and hold it to replace or delete it. It saves at once.
  7. Tap Save at the top right. The X at the top left discards your changes (except photo and folder changes, which were already saved).

At the bottom of the sheet: Duplicate Asset, and Delete Asset if it's yours, or Remove from <profile> if it isn't.

Website

On the website

  1. Tap the asset's tile. On a phone the card opens under the row; on a computer a panel opens on the right.
  2. Tap the details, the Edit Asset button, or choose Edit Asset from the ··· menu (or right-click).
  3. The form matches the iPhone app's. Item | Case can't be changed once the asset exists.
  4. Tap Save. Cmd+Enter (Ctrl+Enter) saves too.

Other ways in: from a pack, press and hold a case or item and choose Edit Asset; it opens on the Assets page (see Edit an asset from inside a pack). Smart Search results open the asset's card.

Good to know

  • Who can edit: the asset's owner, and, for an item, anyone who is an editor, admin or owner of a profile it's in. Someone else's case can only be changed by its owner: neither app offers Edit Asset, Change Category or the photo menu on it (the iPhone app from version 1.0.1; before that it showed them, but the change never reached anyone else). Viewers and loggers can look but not change.
  • Sizes and weights show in your units (Settings). A number you didn't touch keeps its exact stored value when you save.
  • Editing the weight, size, serial number or photo updates the pack lists that include the asset.
  • Deleting is the owner's alone: see Delete an asset, or remove it from a profile.
