Export an ATA Carnet general list (Pro)

With Show Advanced Features on and Luggage Logger Pro, a pack's ··· menu has Export for Carnet: an A4 General List in the standard carnet columns, built from each asset's customs description, serial number, weight, value and country of origin.

Pro

An ATA Carnet needs a General List of everything you're taking across a border. Luggage Logger builds it from a pack, line by line, in the standard carnet columns. It's part of Luggage Logger Pro and sits behind Show Advanced Features.

iPhone app

On the iPhone app

  1. If you don't see it yet: tap the profile button at the top left, then Settings, and under Preferences turn on Show Advanced Features.
  2. Give each asset its customs details. Edit the asset: with advanced features on, its form has On Carnet under the value. Turn it on and fill in Customs Description (the plain trade description customs wants, such as "Dynamic microphone") and Country of Origin. Serial numbers, weights and values come from the asset's usual fields (see Edit an asset).
  3. Open the pack, tap the ··· button at the top right and choose Export for Carnet.
  4. A preview of the PDF opens. Share or print it with the preview's Share button, and tap Close when you're done.

Website

On the website

  1. Turn on Show Advanced Features under Preferences in Settings (behind the profile button).
  2. On each asset's form, turn on On Carnet and fill in Customs Description and Country of Origin.
  3. On the pack's page, tap the ··· button and choose Export for Carnet. The browser's print dialog opens; save it as a PDF or print it.

Good to know

  • The list is headed "ATA CARNET — GENERAL LIST" with the profile, pack and date, then the columns Item No., Trade description of goods and marks and numbers, Number of pieces, Weight (kg), Value and Country of origin, and a TOTAL row (the iPhone app's version also carries a TOTAL CARRIED FORWARD row at the foot of each page). Each case is a numbered line followed by the lines for its contents, then any loose items.
  • The description is the asset's Customs Description; when that's empty, it's the asset's name followed by its brand and model. The serial number goes underneath as "s/n …".
  • Pieces, weight and value take an item's quantity into account. Weights are always in kg here, whatever unit you use in the app.
  • Values show in each line's own currency. The total is in the currency most lines use (the website lists a total per currency).
  • There are no photos or logos: it's a customs form.
  • Items someone else has marked private are left out.
  • The file is named with the date, profile and pack, ending "Carnet.pdf".
  • Without Pro, choosing Export for Carnet opens the Luggage Logger Pro page instead (see Luggage Logger Pro: what it adds, what it costs and how to subscribe). Without Show Advanced Features, the menu item and the On Carnet fields aren't shown at all.
