A pack's weight is everything in it added up: each case's own (empty) weight plus the weight of each item, as entered on the assets. There's nothing to set on the pack itself.
iPhone app
On the iPhone app
- Packs page: each card shows the weight beside the case and item counts, and as the big number on the card when the pack has no photo.
- Inside a pack, the header card shows the total next to the scales symbol. Tap the header to see the total volume (from the cases' dimensions, in m³) and, for editors and above, the total value.
- Each case's row shows "3 items · 12.5 kg": the case's own weight plus what's in it. Open the case and the summary line shows the weight of the items alone, and their value together with the case's own.
- To change a weight, edit the asset: press and hold it and choose Edit Asset (see Edit an asset from inside a pack). The pack updates straight away.
Website
On the website
The same numbers appear on the pack card (the weight block on the left), in the pack's header and on each case. The website shows a value in each currency separately ("£1,000 + US$300"); the iPhone app adds the values into one figure.
Good to know
- Weights are kept in kilograms and shown in the unit you choose in Settings (kg or lbs): see Weight and dimension units, clock format and appearance.
- An asset with no weight counts as nothing, and a pack with no weights at all shows no weight. Add weights on the Assets page (see Asset details: weight, dimensions, value, serial number, notes and more).
- Items someone else has marked private still count towards the weight even though they aren't listed.
- The Assets PDF carries the same totals (see Export a pack as a PDF and share it), and the ATA Carnet list always shows weights in kg (see Export an ATA Carnet general list (Pro)).
- Volume only appears when a case has all three dimensions. Value is hidden from viewers and loggers.
