Screen: New Asset and Edit Asset sheets (iPhone app)

A form titled New Asset or Edit Asset, with Name first, an Item | Case switch, the photo, then Details, Profiles, Category, Tags, Dimensions & Weight, Value, Notes and a Private switch.

iPhone app only

This isn’t on the website; it’s in the iPhone app.

The same sheet makes a new asset and edits an existing one. It opens from the green + on the Assets page, from New Asset on Home, or from an asset's card or press-and-hold menu.

How to recognise it

  • The title is New Asset or Edit Asset. An X sits at the top left; Create or Save (bold, blue) at the top right, greyed out until the name is filled in.
  • A grouped form. For a new asset the keyboard is already up on Name.
  • The second group is a two-part switch Item | Case, with a line under it: "An inventory item that can be packed into cases" or "A container or luggage".
  • Then the photo: a photo picker for a new asset, or the current photo (tap it to enlarge, press and hold to replace) when editing.

What's on it

  • Details: Brand, Model, and a Quantity stepper (1 to 50). A quantity above 1 creates that many copies; when editing, the stepper only goes up.
  • Profiles: Select Profiles opens a list titled Profiles with a tick per profile you can edit. Chosen profiles show as coloured chips.
  • Category: a coloured icon tile and the category's name. "Suggested from its name. Tap to pick another." appears until you choose; tapping opens a grid of category tiles.
  • Tags: Add Tags opens a Tags sheet; "Search finds these."
  • For a case: Case Details with Case Number and Luggage Type (—, Cabin, Hold). For an item: Identification with Serial Number (one field per copy when editing a stack) and Owner.
  • Dimensions & Weight: Length, Width, Height and Weight, in the units set in Settings.
  • Folder (editing inside a profile you can file in): tap to pick the asset's folder; it moves at once.
  • Find My: Item name in Find My.
  • Value: Currency and Value. With Show Advanced Features on, an On Carnet switch adds Customs Description and Country of Origin.
  • Notes: free text.
  • Private (items only, and only your own): hides the item from other members of its profiles.
  • When editing: Duplicate Asset (asks "Number of copies"), and Delete Asset (red) for the owner, or Remove from <Profile> for an editor.

Good to know

  • Delete Asset asks "Are you sure you want to delete "<name>"? This cannot be undone." and removes it from every profile.
  • A new photo shows at once and uploads in the background; it reaches other devices when the upload finishes.
