My assets or trips seem to have gone

Almost always they're safe on your account and just out of view: a different Profile is selected, a filter or search is on, the Profile is archived, or the phone hasn't finished downloading. Check the profile button and All Assets first, then pull to refresh, then force-quit and reopen the app.

Your data lives on your account, not on one phone, so things that seem to have gone are nearly always just out of view. Work down this list.

iPhone app

On the iPhone app

  1. Check which Profile is selected. The Assets, Packs and Trips tabs show the selected Profile's things. Tap the profile button at the top left and pick the right Profile. On the Assets tab, the switch at the top flips between the Profile and All Assets, which shows everything you can see.
  2. Clear filters and search. On Assets, the Categories and Members filters narrow the grid (Just Mine hides everyone else's); tap a chosen one again to show everything, and clear the search field. A folder shows only what's filed in it: the < button at the top left, named after the level above, goes up.
  3. Look in archived Profiles. An archived Profile is hidden from lists, counts and the calendar. In the profile menu, tap Show Archived (n); tapping an archived Profile unarchives it.
  4. On the Calendar, the filter button (Choose calendars) opens Calendars: a switch per Profile and Unassigned Trips. Show All Calendars turns them all on.
  5. Pull down to refresh the list. If the app has just been installed or signed in, give it a minute to finish "Loading your data".
  6. Force-quit and reopen the app: swipe up from the bottom, pause, and flick Luggage Logger away. It downloads from your account again.
  7. Still missing? Settings, Cloud Sync, Download All. As a last resort, Clear Local Cache, which deletes the phone's copy and downloads it afresh.

Website

On the website

  1. Choose the right Profile with the profile button, and use All Assets (the switch at the top of Assets, or under Assets in the sidebar on a computer).
  2. Clear the Categories and Members menus and the search box; the < button named after the level above leaves a folder.
  3. Show Archived (n) in the profile menu for archived Profiles; Calendars on the Calendar page for hidden Profiles.
  4. Reload the page.

Good to know

  • A finished trip, or one archived on the website, is folded away on the Trips page: tap Show past at the top of the list.
  • A trip shared with you on its own shows under its owner's Profile, captioned Shared trip in the profile menu. If the trip was shared without its assets, the Assets tab says Assets aren't shared with you: see I was invited but can't see the shared Profile or Trip.
  • If you were removed from a shared Profile or Trip, the app says "You've been removed from …" and its things go. Ask the owner to invite you again.
  • Nothing is deleted by signing out, deleting the app or clearing the cache; your account keeps it all. Deleting an asset, trip or Profile is the only way to remove something, and that asks you to confirm.
  • Anything that still won't appear after the steps above is worth an email to support@luggagelogger.com with your app version (Settings, About).
