Removing something from a pack only takes it out of this pack. The asset stays on the Assets page, in its profiles and in any other pack.
iPhone app
On the iPhone app
- An item: press and hold it and choose Remove from Pack. It goes at once, and an Undo button (a curved arrow) appears at the top right of the pack.
- A case: press and hold it and choose Remove Case from Pack. The Remove Case question says how many items go with it ("Remove "Drum Case 1" and its 4 items from this pack?"); tap Remove Case and Items. The case and every item inside it leave the pack.
- All loose items: press and hold Loose Items and choose Remove All from Pack.
- Several items: use Select Items, tick them, tap Remove at the bottom and confirm Remove 3 Items (see Select several items in a pack).
- From the add sheet: in Add Assets, tap a ticked item to untick it, or tap a ticked case and confirm Remove Case and 4 Items. They leave the pack when you tap the green + (see Add cases and items to a pack).
- Undo: tap the curved arrow at the top right to put back the last case or item you removed from its menu (a case comes back with its items). It remembers the last ten and forgets them when you leave the pack. Removing a selection, Remove All from Pack and removals made through the Add Assets sheet aren't covered: add those back by hand.
Website
On the website
The same choices are in the ··· menu on a row, a right-click, or a press and hold: Remove from Pack, Remove Case from Pack (with the same Remove Case and Items check), Remove All from Pack on Loose Items, and Remove in the bar while selecting. Every one of these shows a message with Undo, and the curved-arrow Undo button at the top of the pack puts back the last ten, as on the iPhone app.
Good to know
- Nothing is deleted: the asset keeps its photos, details and place in other packs. To delete an asset for good, see Delete an asset, or remove it from a profile.
- Removing a case takes its items out of the pack as well. To keep the items, move them out first (see Move items between cases in a pack), or swap the container with Replace Case (see Replace a case in a pack, or copy it to another pack).
- Removing is for editors, admins and owners.
- On the website, removing someone else's case can't be undone, because once it leaves the pack you can no longer see it.
- Removing an asset from a pack never takes it out of the profile either, even when that was its last pack there (on the iPhone app from version 1.0.1; before that it could drop out of the profile too). To take an asset out of a profile, see Assets in more than one profile: where an asset shows up.
