Share by QR, Join by QR and join links

A QR code is the quickest way to get a crew in: the code joins one profile or one trip at the role you set, and anyone who scans it joins at that role, any number of times, for 7 days or until you revoke it. Every code is also a link, https://luggagelogger.com/join/…, which you can send instead.

Make a code

1. Open the Sharing sheet (profile: press and hold it in the profile list, then Sharing; trip: its ··· button, then Sharing). Only the owner and admins see it.
2. Under Share by QR, pick the Role. For a trip, set Include assets first.
3. Tap Generate QR. The code appears with a line such as "Joins as Editor · expires in 7 days", plus "no assets" and "used 2×" when they apply.
4. Share sends the code as an image with its link. Revoke stops it working at once. One live code at a time: to change its role, revoke it and generate another.

Join with a code

1. Tap the profile button at the top left, then Join by QR, and point the camera at the code. (Or point the Camera app at it and tap the Luggage Logger link; a sent link opens the app too.)
2. The Invitation screen shows what the code opens: Profile or Trip and its name, You'll join as and the role, Assets Included or Not included for a trip, and Shared by. Nothing happens yet.
3. Tap Join and the name, or Not now.
4. "Joined" and the name, with "You're in as Editor" (or the role), then Done. A profile becomes your selected profile; a trip opens on the Trips tab.

1. Make a code: open Sharing for the profile or trip, and under Share by QR choose the role (and Include assets for a trip), then Generate QR. Share, Copy link and Revoke sit under the code, with the link itself.
2. Join: click the profile button, then Join by Link. Tap Scan QR Code where the browser has a camera, or paste the Invite link or code and click Join. The Invitation page shows what the code opens; click Join.
3. Opening a join link in any browser shows "You've been invited": Continue in browser, or on an iPhone Open in Luggage Logger. Signed out, choose Sign in or Create an account; you come straight back to the invitation afterwards.

• You need a Luggage Logger account (free). Sign up first, then open the code or link.
• "This code has expired" or "This code was revoked": ask for a new one. "This code isn't valid": it isn't a Luggage Logger code, or it was mistyped. "That isn't a Luggage Logger share code": the camera saw some other QR code.
• Scanning a code for something you're already in says "You're already in" it and offers Open; nothing changes on your account.
• The Invitation screen's small print says nothing joins until you tap Join, and reminds you that you can leave a profile at any time from the profile picker, or a trip from its ··· menu (Leave Trip). • From version 1.0.1, if the connection drops while a code is being checked or joined, Luggage Logger tries again by itself.
• On the person who shared it, the app shows a toast when someone joins: their name, "joined", the profile or trip, and the role.
