Folders: organise a profile's assets

Inside a profile, assets live in folders up to three levels deep. Make one with the new-folder button or by dropping one asset on another, drag assets in, and press and hold a folder to rename, move or delete it.

Each profile has its own folders, like the Files app: three levels deep at most. The same asset can sit in a different folder in each profile it belongs to. All Assets has no folders. Owners, admins and editors of the profile can organise; viewers and loggers browse.

Create a folder

  1. Open the profile's view on the Assets page and tap the new-folder button at the top right (a folder with a +).
  2. Type a name and tap Create. Leave it empty and it's called "New Folder". Inside a folder the button makes a New Subfolder.
  3. Or drop one asset tile onto another: the prompt names a new folder holding both.

Open and go back: tap a folder tile. Back at the top left is named after the level above (the parent folder, or the profile) and takes you there, to the spot you left.

Put assets in a folder

  • Drag a tile onto a folder. Hovering over a folder opens it, so you can carry an asset deeper; hovering over Back goes up a level. Dropping on empty space files into the level you're in; dropping on Back moves it up a level.
  • Press and hold a tile and choose Move to Folder, then pick Unfiled or a folder. New Folder… at the top makes one for it.
  • With several selected (Select Multiple), tap Folder in the bar at the bottom, or drag a selected tile to move the whole selection.
  • In Edit Asset, the Folder row does the same.

Rename, move or delete a folder: press and hold its tile.

  • Rename, New Subfolder, Assign to Profile (its assets join another profile, in a folder of the same name there).
  • Delete Folder: its assets and subfolders move up a level. Nothing is deleted.
  • Remove Assets from <profile>: the folder goes and its assets leave this profile. They stay in All Assets and any other profile.
  • Delete Folder and Assets: asks twice. Your own assets inside are deleted everywhere; other members' assets are removed from the profile instead.

Drag a folder onto another folder, onto Back or onto empty space to move it with everything inside.

Everything above works the same, with a ··· button on each folder tile for its menu (right-click works too). Drag with the mouse or a finger. Back sits above the title inside a folder, and the browser's Back button steps back a level as well.

Good to know

  • The top level shows folders and only the assets filed in no folder. A folder tile says what's inside: "12 assets · 2 folders".
  • Names are up to 60 characters and must be different from their neighbours'. A folder can't go inside itself, and nothing goes past three levels.
  • A new asset made inside a folder is filed there. Made elsewhere, it goes into a top-level folder named after its category (or Cases for a case) if one exists.
  • Searching looks through the open folder and everything inside it; folder tiles hide while you search.
  • Folder changes sync between devices; a folder deleted on another phone falls back to its parent.
  • From 1.0.1, moving between levels fades softly.
