Stand-alone calendar dates (events): opening, editing and deleting them

Luggage Logger no longer creates stand-alone calendar dates; the + on the Calendar starts a New Trip. A date made earlier still shows on the Calendar and opens as Edit Event when you tap it, where you can change its title, date, time, profile, notes and privacy, move it onto a trip (iPhone app), or delete it.

You can't make a new stand-alone date any more: the green + on the Calendar goes straight to New Trip, and anything with a date now lives on a trip, as a day or a stop (see Create a trip and Add a stop to a day). Dates made earlier (events) are still there: they show on the Calendar and can be opened, changed and deleted.

iPhone app

On the iPhone app

  1. Open Calendar. In the Detailed view an event is a chip in its profile's colour with its start time underneath. In the Compact view its day has a dot, and selecting the day lists the event above the trips as a card with a blue bar on its left, the title (a lock in front of it when it's private), its time or All day, and its notes.
  2. Tap the chip or the card. Edit Event opens with Title, Date, Set time (then From and To), Profile (chips: None or a profile you can edit), Trip, Notes, Private (when a profile is chosen) and, if you made the event, Delete Event. An event you can't change opens read-only instead, titled Event, with its fields greyed out and no Save.
  3. Change what you need and tap Save at the top right, or the X at the top left to leave it as it was.
  4. To move it onto a trip, pick one under Trip. With a time set it becomes a stop on that day ("Saved as a stop on the selected trip."); without a time it becomes the day's name, or an all-day stop if the day is already named ("Saved as a day entry on the selected trip."). The stand-alone date is removed, and the trip's dates stretch to include the day if needed.
  5. To delete it, tap Delete Event at the bottom, then Delete.

Website

On the website

The same chip or card opens Edit Event (or just Event, read-only, when you can't change it) with Title, Date, Set time, From, To, Profile, Notes, Private and Delete Event, and Save at the top. There's no Trip row: moving a date onto a trip is an iPhone-only step. Deleting asks "Are you sure you want to delete this event?" and confirms with "Event deleted". Smart Search (⌘K) finds events by title or notes and takes you to the Calendar.

Good to know

  • Who sees it: a private event, or one with no profile, is yours alone. A shared event appears on the calendar of everyone in its profile.
  • Who can change it: the person who made it, or an editor, admin or owner of its profile; anyone else sees it read-only as Event (on the iPhone app from version 1.0.1). Only the person who made it can make it private or delete it, so Delete Event shows for them alone.
  • Hiding a profile under Calendars (see Choose which profiles show on the Calendar) hides its events too, and an archived profile's events don't show.
  • Events live on the Calendar only: they aren't on the Trips page, in the Logger or in any PDF.
