Master Tour stays the source of truth for a trip you've imported, unless you tell Luggage Logger otherwise. Each imported trip has a Master Tour Mode:
- Automatic Updates (the default): the trip refreshes from Master Tour when you open it, when the app comes back to the front, and when you pull down to refresh. Changes made in Master Tour land by themselves. To stop them being undone on the next refresh, the stops that came from Master Tour, and each day's date, venue, hotel and notes, are read-only in Luggage Logger.
- Manual Updates: nothing refreshes by itself, and every stop and day is editable again. There's no way to bring in Master Tour's later changes while a trip is on Manual: to catch up, switch it back to Automatic (which overwrites your changes to its Master Tour stops).
iPhone app
On the iPhone app
- Open the trip, tap the ··· button at the top right and choose Edit Trip.
- Under Master Tour, choose Manual Updates or Automatic Updates from Master Tour Mode. The change applies as soon as you pick it (switching to Automatic refreshes the trip straight away). A line under the picker explains the mode; on Manual it reads "Changes in Master Tour aren't pulled in. Master Tour stops are editable here; switch back to Automatic to update from Master Tour." The section only appears while you're connected to Master Tour.
- Switching back to Automatic after editing Master Tour stops shows Switch to Automatic? with the stops whose local changes would be overwritten on the next update. Switch & Overwrite confirms; Cancel keeps Manual.
Good to know
- A locked stop opens with a "Master Tour stop" banner; a locked day shows "Master Tour day" in Edit Day Details. The day name is the exception: you can rename a day even in Automatic mode, and a name given while on Automatic survives updates.
- Stops you add yourself to a Master Tour trip are never locked or removed by an update. A Master Tour stop you copy and paste (see Copy a stop and paste it onto another day) becomes one of yours too: editable even on an Automatic trip, and left alone by updates.
- On an Automatic trip, Delete Day isn't offered, and Delete Stop isn't offered on a Master Tour stop, since the next update would bring them back. Stops you added yourself can still be deleted.
- Bag tags and logs are never thrown away by an update: a stop that holds yours is kept even if it disappears from Master Tour.
- The Master Tour card in Settings has Auto Check for Updates, "Last synced" and Sync Now. These check your Master Tour account and update the "Last synced" time; they don't change your trips. An Automatic trip refreshes when you open it, as above.
- On the website, a Master Tour stop on an Automatic trip is read-only and says to switch the trip to manual updates in the iPhone app. The mode can only be changed in the iPhone app.
