Mark your hand luggage and get a reminder when you land

In the Logger at a flight or its Bag Drop, press and hold a case or item and choose Mark as Hand Luggage. When the flight lands, your iPhone reminds you to grab it. The marks are yours and stay on your device.

On a flight, everything you checked in sits in the hold until Bag Reclaim, so the flight's own Logger only deals with what you carry on. Mark those bags as hand luggage: they're the ones you log when you leave the plane, and the iPhone app reminds you about them at landing time.

iPhone app

On the iPhone app

  1. Open the flight's Schedule, expand the flight and tap Disembarking or Bag Drop under Log.
  2. Press and hold a case or item and choose Mark as Hand Luggage. It gets a "Hand luggage" chip; everything else on the flight is in the hold and shows where it is in its journey instead of a Log button: Not checked, Checked in or Collected.
  3. To mark several at once, press and hold and choose Select, tick the bags, then open Actions and choose Mark as Hand Luggage. Remove Hand Luggage undoes it, singly or for a selection.
  4. When the flight lands, a notification says "Don't forget your hand luggage" with the flight number and the bags by name. Tap it to open the Logger at that flight.

To see only what you're carrying, open the eye button at the top right of the Logger while it's on the flight itself (not Bag Drop or Bag Reclaim) and turn on Show Hand Luggage Only. With nothing marked it says "No hand luggage flagged".

Website

On the website

The same Mark as Hand Luggage and Remove Hand Luggage in a bag's ··· menu (or press and hold), the same Show Hand Luggage Only switch, and Not checked, Checked in or Collected on everything in the hold. The website doesn't send the landing reminder.

Good to know

  • The reminder fires at the flight's live landing time when the flight card can provide it, otherwise at the arrival time on the stop. It's worked out again each time you open the Logger or return to the app, so a delay picked up later moves it.
  • Hand luggage marks are personal and stay on the device you made them on: your crew don't see which bags are yours, and the reminder only goes to you.
  • Notifications must be allowed for Luggage Logger on your iPhone (it asks the first time you open the app), and the profile's notifications not muted (see Notifications: what Luggage Logger can send, and how to turn each one off).
  • Trains, coaches, ferries and drives don't use hand luggage marks; they get an automatic reminder before arrival instead (see Trains, coaches, ferries and drives: Boarding, Disembarking and the arrival reminder).
