Team Notes on the Home page

Team Notes is a shared text box on a profile's Home page that every member of the profile can read. The owner, admins and editors can type in it; it saves by itself a moment after you stop typing, or when you tap Done, and the header shows Editing…, Saving… then Saved.

Team Notes is one shared note for the whole profile: the van's number plate, the lock code on the trailer, who's collecting the passes. It sits on the profile's Home page, below the Overview card, and everyone in the profile sees the same text.

iPhone app

On the iPhone app

  1. Tap Home and scroll to Team Notes (below Overview, and below At a Glance once anything has been logged in the profile).
  2. Tap in the box ("Shared notes visible to everyone in this profile…") and type. The header shows Editing… while you type.
  3. Stop for a moment and it saves on its own: the header shows Saving…, then a green Saved that fades after a couple of seconds. A Done link sits under the box while you're typing; tap it to save straight away and put the keyboard away.
  4. Leaving Home saves anything still unsaved. Autocorrect is on, but spelling isn't underlined: crew notes are mostly shorthand and names.

Website

On the website

The same box under the TEAM NOTES heading, with Editing…, Saving… and Saved at the right of the heading and a Done button under the box while you're typing. It saves a moment after you stop, when you click away, when you press Done and when you leave Home. If a save fails, the page says so and keeps your text so you can try again. An edit made on another device appears while you're not typing.

Good to know

  • Who can type: the profile's owner, admins and editors. Viewers and loggers see the note read-only (the website shows "No notes yet." when it's empty).
  • There is one note per profile, not per trip. Notes about a day go in Day Notes (see Day Notes: a note for the whole day) and a pack has its own notes (see Add notes or a photo to a pack).
  • If two people type at the same time, the later save replaces the earlier one, so watch the badge.
  • Offline, the iPhone app keeps what you typed and sends it when you're back online (see Working offline, and how your changes reach other people). Pull down on Home to refresh if a teammate's change hasn't appeared yet.
