Many tours run their day sheets in Day Sheets (daysheets.com). Its calendar feed is a link the tour manager shares with the crew. Paste it on a trip and Luggage Logger reads it every few minutes and keeps the trip's stops, flights, hotels and day titles in step. The link carries a key, so it is stored on the server and never shown again.
Connect a feed
- In Day Sheets, copy the calendar feed link (Tour Settings › Calendar Feed on the tour; the tour manager may send it to you).
- In Luggage Logger, open Settings › Integrations › Day Sheets and tap Connect a Feed. Or open the trip, tap Edit Trip and tap Connect a Day Sheets feed….
- Pick the trip (or type a name for a new one; it takes its dates from the feed), paste the link, choose what comes in, and tap Connect.
- The first sync runs at once and the sheet says what arrived. From then on the trip follows the feed on its own.
What comes in
- Schedule: every timed line on a day becomes a stop, with its time and any note under it.
- Flights: a line like "LAX to AUS" with the airline and flight number becomes a flight stop, with Bag Drop and Bag Reclaim around it, as if you had added it yourself.
- Hotels: the hotel on each day goes into the day's Hotel field.
- Day titles: the day's title from Day Sheets ("Show Day - Austin, TX", "Travel Day") becomes the day's name.
Turn any of these off in Options. Venues and your notes are never touched: the feed has no venue names, so type them as before.
Lines for everyone, or just you
The feed lists every person's travel. Under Who, choose Just me and type your name as the day sheets write it: only lines that name you, or name nobody, come in. Day titles always do.
What the feed never changes
- Days already over. The feed only changes today and the days ahead.
- Stops with luggage on them. A stop with assets assigned or logged stays as it is; if the day sheet now says something different, the trip's Day Sheets row shows it under kept as you entered.
- A stop you changed. Edit a stop that came from the feed and the feed leaves it alone from then on. Delete it and it stays deleted.
- A locked day. Open the day's Edit Day sheet and turn on Locked: nothing on that day changes until you unlock it. Use it for a day you entered from the PDF day sheet.
Sync now, options, disconnect
On the Day Sheets card in Settings, and in Edit Trip, each linked trip has Sync Now (fetches the feed straight away), Options (what comes in, who for, a start date, the tour's time zone) and Disconnect. Disconnecting keeps everything the trip has; it just stops following the feed.
Good to know
- Day Sheets has no venue names or time zones. Times are read in the city of the day (from the title or the hotel address); when neither says, the Tour time zone in Options is used.
- If the link stops working (the tour manager turned the feed off, or the link changed), the card shows why, and nothing in the trip is removed because of it. Connect the feed again with the new link.
- The website shows everything the feed brings in; connecting a feed is done in the iPhone or Mac app for now.
