Sorting changes how the items in each case are listed for you. Custom Order is different: it's an order you set by hand, saved with the pack, and it's the order the PDFs and the carnet use.
iPhone app
On the iPhone app
- Open the pack and tap the sort button (a circle with two arrows) at the top right, beside the ··· button.
- Choose Name (A-Z), Date Added (Newest), Date Added (Oldest), Weight (Heaviest), Value (Most) or Custom Order. A tick marks the current choice.
- To set your own order, choose Reorder Items… (Custom Order opens the same sheet). The Reorder sheet lists the cases first, then each case's items, then Loose Items. Drag the handle on the right of a row to move it; every move is saved at once. Tap the X to close.
- Back in the pack, Custom Order shows the items in that order.
Website
On the website
The sort menu is the two-arrows button at the top of the pack's page, with the same choices. Reorder Items… opens the same Reorder sheet: drag a row by its grip with a mouse, pen or finger, or focus the grip and use the arrow keys. Straight from the pack page you can also drag a case's header to change the order of the cases, and, in Custom Order, drag an item to a new place in its own list.
Good to know
- Cases always show in their saved order; the sort choices apply to the items inside each case and under Loose Items.
- The sort you pick is just for this visit. The custom order is saved with the pack and shared with everyone who can see it.
- Items you've never moved fall in A–Z order under Custom Order.
- The Assets PDF, the CSV and the ATA Carnet list items in the custom order (see Export a pack as a PDF and share it).
- Reordering is for editors, admins and owners; the sort menu is for everyone.
